Mozilla Gorilla
Mozilla Thunderbird, Firefox and the Mozilla Gorilla itself were downloaded and test driven this weekend.
I was looking for an advantage over Opera. I found none. Combined, the HTML editor in Mozilla, is really the only thing that Opera doesn't have. They have separated the browser from the "suite" and the email reader. Now they should separate the Netscape friendlier HTML editor as well.
Opera handles email and RSS feeds infinitely better. The advantage Firefox has over it is its forced IE compatibility. There are still programs out there, and websites that force a browser to be fully IE compatible. Opera will never be that.
This is Microsoft's fault. I don't mean this in the same way Red Sox fans say their record seven second place finishes are the Yankees fault.
Microsoft has made an effort to put the clogs in Opera's wheels. This is to no great advantage of the behemoth. They're doing it from spite. Or, sadder, they're swatting at Opera in much the same way you may swat at a spot on a wall. it might be a mosquito. It my carry EEE. It might bite you one day.
To Microsoft, three "mights" is reason enough for a preemptive strike. It's good enough for government work.
